Due to recent developments, The Center for Disease Control (CDC), has advised ALL eyecare providers to postpone all routine care in order to limit the spread of COVID-19.
At this time, office visits will be limited to urgent and emergency care only. This is including but not limited to the following:
- Foreign Particles in the eye
- Scratched or Painful eye
- Sudden onset of FLASHES or NEW FLOATERS
- Sudden Vision Loss
We are asking patients with conjunctivitis aka “pink eye” do NOT schedule face to face visits. Instead we will be offering TeleHealth examinations with Dr. Akers. This option will be available to patients over 65, or patients who do not wish to leave their homes. We understand that each patient is unique, which is why Dr. Akers will be available via phone to discuss urgent concerns.
In case you need a Contact Lens Refill, a team member will be available for processing and shipping orders on a case to case bases. Contact Lens and Glasses prescriptions will be automatically extended 6 months.
We feel postponing routine care is the best decision for the safety of our patients, our staff, and our families. We TRULY appreciate your patience, loyalty and understanding as we navigate this difficult and ever-changing time.
We will have a staff member to answer phones Monday-Thursday from 10 am – 2 pm. The doors will be locked during that time. If you have glasses that need to be picked up, please call during those times and we will schedule a time for you to pick them up. We will deliver these curbside. Any contact lenses that need to be picked up will be mailed to the patient’s address we have on file.
We plan to resume routine eyecare on Monday May 4 2020.
All the Best, Dr Akers and the Akers Eyecare Team
